Running Your First AI Rewrite

Choose a low-scoring product and rewrite it. Review the diff, approve it, and watch your score jump 10-20 points.

Prerequisites

Before your first rewrite:

  • Products are imported and scored (at least 50 products in catalog)
  • Brand voice is defined (go to Settings → Brand Voice if not done yet)
  • You have identified at least one product scoring below 70

Rewrites are free on all plans (limited quota on Free tier). Free plan includes 5 rewrites per month. Upgrade to Starter for 100/month or Growth for 500/month.

Find a Product to Rewrite

Step 1: Go to Catalog

From the main dashboard, click Catalog. You will see all imported products.

Step 2: Filter by Score

Click "Filter" → "Score" and select "40-69 (Fair)". This shows products with meaningful improvement potential but not so broken that the rewrite is risky.

For your first rewrite, pick a product in this range. Avoid 0-39 (very broken) and 70-100 (already good) for now.

Step 3: Sort by Impact

If Google Search Console is connected: sort by "Organic Traffic" to prioritize products with real search demand.

If GSC not connected: sort by "Category" and pick from your most important category (highest sales volume).

Step 4: Click the Product

Click any product to open its detail page. You will see:

  • Current title and description
  • Overall score and breakdown by dimension
  • Specific scoring notes (e.g., "Title is too short", "Missing brand name", "Keyword 'waterproof' not in content")

Request a Rewrite

Step 5: Click "Rewrite"

On the product detail page, look for a "Rewrite" or "AI Rewrite" button (usually top-right). Click it.

A dialog will open asking: "What should we focus on?" Default is "Maximize score across all dimensions". Advanced option: choose specific dimensions (e.g., "Improve keyword coverage only" or "Add more conversion copy").

Step 6: Choose Rewrite Scope

Default: rewrite title AND description. Advanced: rewrite title only, or description only.

For your first rewrite, use default (full rewrite). This shows maximum impact.

Step 7: Generate

Click "Generate Rewrite". EcomIQX AI generates a revised title and description in 10-15 seconds.

Review the Diff

Step 8: Compare Before and After

The rewrite appears side-by-side with the original:

  • Left: Original content
  • Right: Rewritten content
  • Highlighted sections: Changes are highlighted in green (additions) and red (deletions)

What to Look For

Good Rewrite Signs

  • Stronger keywords: Are primary keywords more prominent in the title?
  • More specific: Does it replace vague adjectives with facts? ("comfortable" → "memory foam, 12mm heel drop")
  • Better structure: Are specs or benefits organized with lists or headers?
  • Brand voice maintained: Does it sound like your brand?
  • Projected score improvement: Look for the estimated score delta (usually +10 to +25 points)

Red Flags

  • Title is much shorter or much longer than original (ideal: 50-70 characters)
  • Rewrite feels generic or like a competitor's copy
  • Losing important product attributes (size, color, warranty info)
  • Grammar or spelling errors
  • Factual inaccuracy (wrong material, wrong price, wrong spec)

Step 9: Approve or Edit

Three options:

  • Approve: The rewrite is good. Click "Approve" and it goes live immediately (1-2 minute sync to your product feed).
  • Edit: The rewrite is close but needs tweaks. Click "Edit" and manually adjust the text. Then click "Save and Approve".
  • Decline: The rewrite misses the mark. Click "Decline" to discard it. You can request another rewrite with different parameters.

After Approval: What Happens

Immediate (0-2 minutes)

The rewritten title and description are saved to your product record in EcomIQX.

Within 2 minutes

If you have an XML feed connected or API sync, the updated product syncs to your feed provider or store.

Within 6 hours

The new content is live on your store (Shopify, WooCommerce, your website).

Instant (in EcomIQX)

The product's score updates. You will see the new overall score and dimension breakdown. Most rewrites jump 10-25 points.

What to Expect From Results

Score Improvement

Average rewrite improves a product by 15 points. A product at 55 becomes 70. This is immediate and visible in the EcomIQX interface.

Search Impact

Ranking improvements take 2-4 weeks to appear in Google. Do not expect immediate traffic jumps. But after 20-30 rewrites in a category, you will see organic search lift.

Conversion Impact

Better descriptions reduce bounce rate and improve add-to-cart rate. Expect 3-8% improvement in conversion rate for rewritten products (measured via Google Analytics or your ecommerce platform).

Troubleshooting

Rewrite Seems Generic

Root cause: Brand voice not defined or too vague. Solution: Go to Settings → Brand Voice and add specific examples of your best product copy. The AI learns from examples.

Rewrite Keeps Including Wrong Information

Example: "waterproof" when the product is water-resistant, not waterproof. Solution: Manually edit the rewrite to correct it, then approve. The AI does not have access to your product spec database — it infers from existing title/description. Feed it better source material.

Score Did Not Improve Much (Only +5 points)

Common cause: The product already scored well in most dimensions. The rewrite optimized one weak area. This is normal for products already at 60+. Focus rewrites on products under 50 for bigger gains.

I Ran Out of Rewrites (Free Tier)

Free plan = 5 rewrites per month. Upgrade to Starter ($79/month) for 100 per month, or Growth ($249/month) for 500 per month. Or wait for your monthly quota to reset on the 1st of the month.

Next Steps

After your first successful rewrite:

  1. Run 10-20 more rewrites on products scoring 40-70 in your highest-traffic categories
  2. Set a brand voice and measure if rewrites improve after you define it (they should)
  3. Connect Google Search Console to unlock keyword-informed rewrites
  4. Consider automating rewrites with the Content Optimizer agent (Growth tier minimum)
